Today’s reflection: 2-20-18

We often live selfish, undisciplined lives controlled by our feelings. When the other person treats us unfairly, we want to lash back with bitter, vindictive actions. We sin.

Our veneer of decent living is stripped from us. Enter Jesus Christ. Though He loved everyone. Enemies abounded in His life; enemies- out to trick Him, badger Him, damage His reputation.

From Our Church Bulletin

We celebrate the transfiguration of our Lord remembering how He shone forth
in His true glory as the Son of God. This moment of glory, however, is also a bridge to the season of Lent because, as Jesus reminded His disciples, He had to reveal His real mission. So, down from the mount of glory, went Jesus to the cross. We follow Him to His cross of shame, but this cross has brought us true glory, now and forever!

Did you ever wonder what is Heaven like? Or, is there really such a place?
It’s a question asked by aged or tyke as they run life’s frantic race.
The answer’s clear to those who know God’s Word, inspired and true
‘Twas penned by those compelled to show It’s truth to me and you.

God instructs us in His Word; to listen, learn, and trust.
everything we’ve read and heard; tell the world, we must.
There are those we know who don’t believe, and criticize our zeal.
A ray of hope we’d like to give, when we face their resolve of steel.

Lord, we know, that you have chose; all who’ll abide with You.
Help us find each of those yearning; Your will to know and do!

1-27-18 Reflection Psalm 23 KJV

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul;
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for
His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for Thou art with me;
thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence
of mine enemies:
Thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow meal
the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen

The good news is the Gospel, and Jesus’ saving grace
I have been justified, my sins He did erase.
He shed His blood on Calvary, the price for all my sin;
So when I get to Heaven’s door, He’ll welcome me therein.

Jesus is the only way to Heaven.
The Bible tells me so, that’s all I need to know

I’ll see the face of Jesus there in Heaven;
Heaven is the place I long to go.

Another Year Has Come and Gone

Another year has come and gone and the new one takes its place.
But time keeps marching on and on, like a trip through outer space.
Many folks wonder how and why, we’re part of this galaxy.
God on high created the sky; He even made you and me.
Winter starts another new year, with cold and wind and snow
We’d like to see it disappear, it must, it will, we know.
Shivers and chills are hard to bear, but the scenery’s so pure, so white.
We bundle up with extra care to venture out at night
Sunrise foretells another day. What will it bring, what surprise?
Snow Owls and Quail we see today; a feast for hungry eyes.
A little corner of God’s world; the deer, the birds, the snow.
Watching wonders as they unfurl; we’d like their secrets to know.
Soon another cycle will start, spring will arrive once again.
The time that stirs a farmer’s heart, planting fields of grain.
With faith in God we’ll plant our seeds and watch crops as they grow.
We trust He’ll grant us all our needs; and reap that which we sow.
This year I’ll strive more diligently; witnessing to God’s True Word.
I’d like each unbeliever to see the wonders that I’ve heard
God’s love and Grace, His Only Son: proclaim to one and all.
To enlighten the doubters, ev’ry one; avoiding their certain fall.

Christmas Reflection

A little Baby was sent to earth so many years ago;
Our Heavenly Father sent His Son to feel how humans grow,
Angels Heralded His immaculate birth with songs of Heavenly joy;
Though the Heavens resounded with the significance of this man,
It didn’t take long ‘til the people He touched began to understand.

Christmas with my Grandma was a special time for me.
Started with her choosing the perfect Christmas tree;
It had to look proud and straight when placed into its stand.
Beneath it was her Christmas scene to make it look just grand.
A clean white sheet around its base was the foundation for the scene.
Clinkers from the old coal furnace form the mountain, a part of the dream.
Mountain sheep found their places and cotton formed the drifts of snow
A mirror tucked in the snow was the place little skaters go
People and animals were placed in the village and around the little red barn
This little lad would be on my knees, daydreaming, taking in all of the charm
Tree lights were carefully placed; not a spot on the tree would be bare
A chest of ornaments, precisely placed, showing her patience and care
The job wasn’t done ‘til we all left the room, and a pickle was hid in the tree
Who would be the first one to find it? That person was never me!

Have a merry Christmas,
Don and Ruth

Today’s Reflection: As you gather your loved ones for Advent meditations, we pray that the Holy Spirit would shine His light in your hearts and bring focus to all your Christmas celebrations: “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11, ESV). “Billy Graham”

Today’s Reflection: Advent is a season of preparing and waiting for
the celebration of Jesus’ birth at Christmas. The word Advent is
from the Latin translation of “coming.” God’s prophecies in the
Old Testament prepared the way for His promise. During December,
Christians take part in Advent as a way to celebrate the promise of
The Savior, Jesus Christ, both at birth and looking forward to His
return. During this season, Bible verses that detail the coming of
Jesus to prepare our hearts to receive Christ. Read the Scripture
together with your family to celebrate the birth of Jesus!

Today’s Reflection:
“What Does Thanksgiving Mean to Me”
It’s a time to be thankful for all that we see;
birds and creatures and flowers and trees.
A special day to thank our Lord:
for the many blessings He’s outpoured.
We thank Him many times each day;
On Thanksgiving we pray in a special way.
I am thankful for the Pilgrims so faithful;
And that our forefathers were ever greatful:
I’m thankful that we have a great, awesome, and mighty God;
A Wonderful Councilor; The Prince of Peace:
Who inspired the writers of His Holy Word.
Where He instructs us how to live on earth
And prepare for eternity.

I’m thankful for living in a land of compassion for those in need.
For our freedom to speak and assemble to protest wrongs perceived.
I’m thankful for the many blessings of this year;
and for all the years of my life.
I’m thankful for the fact that though more and more folks. challenge God’s
Existence and His Holy Word; He continues to bless and protect our nation.
Thankful we are “One nation under God.” and “In God We Trust!”
Give thanks to The Lord for He is good; His Mercy endures forever!

Thanksgiving was special for us this year. Daughter, Jennifer became a Grandma;
Her son, Brandon’s wife, Sandriene gave birth to Scott and added our 4rth Great -;
Grandson our 7th Great Grandchild..

Every baby is a gift is a gift from God above;
They can fill our lives with pride and joy and love.
Ev’ry time we see their precious smile;
We know God has made our lives worthwhile
Thank You for the children in our life dear Lord;
Help us nourish them with knowledge of Your Word.
Take them by hand, on Your Truth to firmly stand;
Help us raise them in the way that You command.

11-14-17 Today’s Reflection:
It is so easy be judgmental of others. We don’t know their struggles, their situation, or their hearts. When we are judgmental, we erect a barrier between others and ourselves. We can spread that judgmental impression in gossip, and create a stumbling block, and cause them to become discouraged and stumble.

My prayer
Father, I ask you to help me to match the redemptive grace you have for them, and for me, and to be more patient with the failures of others, just as you are patient with mine. Guide me to being more of an encouragement to those who are weak and struggling and open my eyes to the ways I can be a blessing to them. Forgive me for those times I have been a hindrance to others and open my heart to share your blessings with them. Please use me to be an instrument of grace.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.

11-6-17  Today’s Reflection

Do not be afraid dear friends; The Lord is at your side.
He loves, sustains and promises to always be your guide.
We know in our hearts that whatever harm we face today.
Immorality, greed, hatred lies and murder fill the news each day.
The only thing that we can do is trust in God and Pray.

D. F. Don Cooper  www.fcgmusic.com

How can we be confident in what happens today? What is our assurance for tomorrow? Where do we muster excitement about eternity? The Lord is our helper! Fear will not be our master because our future, our destiny, our eternity rest in the hands of the eternal Lord. The worst that man can do is to send me home to my Lord.

My prayer:

Dear Lord, please help restore  respect, sincerity and humility to our representatives In Washington D.C. and Wisconsin.

In the name of Jesus, I pray.

Amen.

10-30-17 Today’s Reflection

     Predestination has boggled my mind for longer than I care to recount. I’ve finally resolved, it’s a gift from God, to accept by faith, without doubt, knowing my home in Heaven above is a gift that’s secured by my Saviors love. One of the hardest aspects of understanding why God even cares about us is trying to understand it from God’s perspective, and I think that can blow our mind. We really are unworthy of His love, and can feel guilty for accepting it.

     We’re saved by grace, God’s Grace. He chose us, He loves us, and we don’t have to figure out how to deserve, or how or when or where we made the decision to love Him back. We don’t have to even choose to, for He has already made that choice for us. Our “Born Again” friends who really had an earth shaking experience which either bought them to the Lord, or awakened their once lost walk with the Lord, had something special, and we can rejoice in that with them, even though we are secure in our faith without the need to have a like experience. We were miraculously re-born at the time of our baptism.

It’s good to know, Dear Lord, that You have chosen me
to live with You in Heav’n for all eternity
And tho I don’t deserve Your Grace and Love Divine,
it’s written in Your Word that it is truly mine.
What can I do Dear Lord, to share my gratitude
with folks I come across who have an attitude.
Who stubbornly refuse to accept Your Saving Grace,
and think by dissing You,they elevate their space.

Give me words Dear Lord, to help them change their course.
I know there’s not a way to change their mind by force.
But I know the Holy Spirit works in mysterious ways.
Show me the way that I can help, in my remaining days

Ephesians 1:3-5 NIV

     Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For He chose us in Him, before the creation of the world, to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love, He predestined us to be adopted as His sons (& daughters) through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will. (*my added words)

10-22-17 Today’s Reflection

Jesus tells us to defend and give aid to the poor. Yet many
political leaders want to defund health insurance and financial aid
that helps folks in need,

Did you ever wonder what it’s like to be destitute and poor?
Witnessing on the TV news, folks huddled under bridges or any place
to find protection from the biting cold wind, rain, sleet and snow and
clothed in filthy rags the most fortunate will be found by police, helped
into the car and taken to a warm place. Many of them are not found in time
and may freeze to death.

CHRISTIAN LOVE

We‘re told in John 3:16 – “For God so loved the
world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

The book of John, inspired by God above,
is a wonderful place to learn God’s love.
His Word tells all we need to know;
how to live, to love, to thrive and to grow.

Jesus came down to teach us the way
He wants us to live, each hour, each day.
He lived on earth for a very short time,
He taught God’s truth, God’s love sublime.

He told us in John 13:34 – “A new command
I give you: Love one another. As I have loved
you, so you must love one another.”

He taught in words we could comprehend,
as our Savior, our Counc’lor, our mentor, our friend.
With all of His love, He gives us the choice:
Ignore all His teachings, or obey His voice!

He told us in John 14:6- “I am the way and the truth and
the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

10-16-17 Today’s Reflection

What is contentment? Ask me, I know!
I’m thankful The Lord has blessed me so.
A wonderful wife, Children and friends
A farm and a home, much more I can’t tend.
My church and community, nation and food
I’ve studied creation, it’s Very good! (Gen. 1:31)

Some folks crave money piled to the sky,
Trinkets and gadgets and all they can buy.
As for me and my house, we’ll serve The Lord,
His grace and favor, so freely out-poured.
They’re all available to people like you.
Love, honor, worship, repent is the clue!

“When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If someone is there who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.

“When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ 10 But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, 11 ‘Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God has come near.’ 12 I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.

16 “Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”

17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”

21 At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little.

I picture myself, with them, in lush pasture, near a gentle flowing
stream. And I think about Psalm 23. I really miss that Feeling!

Swallows Leaving Their Nest

It’s time, our dear children to leave your nest;
Mom and Dad have provided their best.
They’ve brought you all the food they could find;
Mosquitoes and flies were tops of their mind.

The time has come to convince you to learn
Catching all those bugs; it’s time, and your turn.
We hope we can watch you learn how to fly.
We’re sure you’ be talented, by and by.

It reminds us of when our kids left home;
Got married and started homes of their own.
We’d like to advise them just what to do;
They’ve learned from us and school and church too

They’ll learn most, like us, by making mistakes.
We tried to show them the courage it takes.
Faith is the most helpful thing they will need;
God and the Bible will help them succeed.

September, The In-between Season

September is a season of its own; it can feel like summer to you.
At other times, autumn sets the tone; it switches between the two.
The hint of fall, bittersweet indeed, transforms before your eyes.
You’re  eager to see the changes proceed; smell  the air, take a breath with a sigh.
Birds gather to prepare for their flight; perched on wires and trees.
Somehow they know, when the time is just right ; The geese in flight form their V’s
Sadly, you know, it will be over too soon. Biting cold, will soon arrive.
The wind and snow will make us swoon. Winter’s ahead-Can we survive?

“From The Heart of an Old Farmer”

Look Up:

Whenever life’s cares are getting you down
And you can’t get your eyes off the ground.
Look up my friend; look up to the skies;
Let heavenly thoughts fill your eyes.
Look up and see he clouds in the sky;
The birds in the great by and by.
How insignificant are you and me,
Compared to the sky, the earth, and the sea.
Looking to Heaven, thinking Jesus said,
“Come to Me,” I long to lay my head
On pillows of clouds, listen and hear
Angels singing; Jesus saying, “My child, do not fear.”
To think of the times we let worries and fears
Fill our hearts and our eyes with tears.
We fill our minds with earthly cares;
When all we long for is right up there.
Look up my friend; Hear God say “My Son shed His blood for you”
To pay for your sin, to ease your pain and all you have to do;
Believe Him, love Him, and trust His Holy Word.
Be a witness; tell each person you meet everything you heard.
Look up toward Heaven, look up and see’
What God has in store for you and me.
Don’t ask me how, I can’t perceive.
I can’t ever explain –I just believe!

7-10-17 Today’s Reflection

From the book: “From The Heart of an Old Farmer”

7-10-17 Today’s Reflection: Salem Church, at Wayne
Just a little country church and it meant o much to me;
Established by ancestors, who came from Germany.
My Grandma, my Mother’s Mom, heard God’s Word from there.
Lessons she would not forget, the verses and the prayers.

When “out home” this lovely church was a home to me.
Sitting in those pews was tike sitting at my Grandma’s knee.
As a child, those stained glass windows fostered many dreams;
A sunray touching Salem’s glass was a glimpse of Heaven it seems.

Instead of listening my mind would fly to that resting place outside.
Where bodies lay, survivors pray, their souls rest high in the sky.
The tombstones standing row by row mark relatives and friends,
Who chose to worship in the church, and a lot out back in the end.

Wonderful memories trace back to this place;
Learning of Jesus’ love, and God’s Amazing Grace.
Law and Gospel were the fare so many years ago.
The things, today, that Christians need to know!
John 3: For God so loved the world, that He gave He only begotten Son
That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting
Life.

Men and women shed their blood, for our nation, of liberty and Justus for all.
Jesus Christ shed His Blood for everyone who listens to, and heeds His call!

From the song, Peace on Earth?

Refrain: Peace, peace, Heavenly peace;
A world without heart ache and woe.
A world in which all conflict will cease,
Cannot be found on earth here below.
v.1 Mankind longs for peace on earth, a dream he has always pursued.
A lifetime filled with love and mirth, all want and pain subdued.
He thinks his wise and learned estate, His intellect and skill,
Will help him seal the long-sought fate, he hopes he can fulfill.

8 Lead out those who have eyes but are blind,
who have ears but are deaf.
9 All the nations gather together
and the peoples assemble.
Which of their gods foretold this
and proclaimed to us the former things?
Let them bring in their witnesses to prove they were right,
so that others may hear and say, “It is true.”
10 “You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD,
“and my servant whom I have chosen,
so that you may know and believe me
and understand that I am he.
Before me no god was formed,
nor will there be one after me.
11 I, even I, am the LORD,
and apart from me there is no savior.
12 I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—
I, and not some foreign god among you.
You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God.

Today’s Reflection:

My Beautiful bride my dearest wife, Ruth How can I thank you enough for the last 60 years.  With a wonderful life together through the years, granted, many of them presented a real challenge.  The income received from the farm was inadequate to say the least, and expenses were much too high,, making me wonder  many times if we had chosen the wrong career.  The years spent on AMPI I activities, thinking that I would be able to affect the milk price to help ourselves and other dairy farmers to make a better living, those in the real

You swept off my feet if on our very first date.  You asked me to attend church with you, and showed me that you love the lord as well or better than mine. I, strengthened my opinion that you are the one that I must marry. Learning that you had attended your Christian grade school made me realize that this is the education I wanted our children to have. The Lord directed me to you and your church, and has been beside us ever since we met, and guided us through difficult times. I am thankful that you and I and our children have a strong relationship with The Lord. June 8, 2017 today’s NIV Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4 &7

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast it is not proud.

Our first date, arranged by Paul and Elvira, was dancing at the nightingale Ballroom in Milwaukee. You wore lovely pink dress. I was mesmerized by your eyes.  “Don’t turn too fast, it makes me dizzy,” you urged, tough job doing the polka.

The very first time I held you so closely in my arms, I knew that God had made you only for me; for just a moment there I felt a taste of paradise and I thanked God estate/auction business, hoping to provide the needed income to keep the farm going, all the years that distracted from you and our children.  If I can see today  that it was time wasted on the other activities, severely limiting the time I had to spend, and should have been at home.  I am sincerely sorry for that waste of time that we should have been spending together. For all the beauty  I could see. That night I prayed that God would always bless us. That you could feel the same way for me somehow I knew that He wanted us together and that our love was always meant to be.

I love you with all my heart!,
