5-10-17 Today’s reflection JOHN 10:14-17 I am the good shepherd;  I know my sheep and my sheep know me-15 Just as The Father -knows me and I know my Father  and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life-only to take it up again.18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

Luke 38:13 Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. 24 They were talking with each other about things which happened.

A Stranger at Emmaus; Poem/song.

There was sorrow on the road to Emmaus as the two of them were journeying that day.

A stranger walked with them and he talked with them. How could they not know he was the Lord?

For he spoke to them in ways that only he could know, they couldn’t comprehend how he loved them so.

.He caused their hearts to burn and made their souls to yearn for the peace that only Jesus could convey.

As they walked into the place called Emmaus, they asked Jesus to stay with them that night.

He told them he would stay, and later they would pray. He broke the bread and opened up their eyes.

He revealed to them he is our risen Savior!  He had spent the day opening the Scriptures.

He calmed their ev’ry fear.  And then He’d disappear and left peace that only Jesus could provide.

Many times as we travel our life’s journey, we ask Jesus if he’s really at our side.

We feel alone and blue and don’t know what to do. How could we not know that he’s our guide?

He tells us, “Low I am with you always, Even onto the end of the world.” He says.

It’s written in His Word and we have read and heard of the peace that only Jesus can provide.

The peace that only Jesus can provide!

Today’s NIV Bible Reflection Mark 10:13-16

13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them.  14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. i15 “Truly I tell you; anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will not enter it.” He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them.”  16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.
